Preschool Program K2, K3, and K4
The Ruskin Christian School Preschool/Kindergarten Program provides social and learning experiences for children ages two through four. This gentle nurturing environment encourages creativity and curiosity from each child as they are guided to develop a positive attitude toward learning. Each day's activities provide numerous opportunities for children to see Christian values modeled and the gospel message presented. The Preschool/Kindergarten Program is a strong link to the first through twelfth grade program of Ruskin Christian School. The A BEKA curriculum is the primary curriculum used in the preschool and kindergarten.

  • Age-appropriate activities and learning

K3
  • A phonics-based program including short vowels and consonants, letter recognition, alphabet sounds, and letter formation
  • Number counting and recognition
  • Colors
  • Bible time and chapel (including Scripture memorization)
  • Recess
  • Hot lunch
  • Nap time
  • Half day of full day
K4
  • A phonics-based reading skills program including short vowels and consonants, vowel sounds, blends, and one-vowel word blends
  • Number counting and number recognition
  • Reading groups
  • Cursive writing
  • Bible time and chapel (including Scripture memorization)
  • Recss
  • Hot lunch
  • Nap time
  • Half day or full day

The Elementary School K5 - 6th Grade
The Ruskin Christian School Elementary Program serves students in K5 through sixth grade. In the elementary grades, students develop a love for learning and are challenged to work to their learning potential and to discover their individual capabilities. Students gain knowledge and an understanding of how things fit together in GodŐs plan. The academic program centers around language arts with an emphasis on phonics and reading, language, math skills, science, social studies, and Bible. Music, computer, and physical education, enrich the basic curriculum.

The program includes:

K5
  • Phonics and reading - students learn to read by mastering the sounds that letters symbolize
  • Students will learn over 400 vocabulary words in their basic phonics reading series and reading groups
  • Telling time, number counting, addition, and money value
  • Bible time and chapel (including Scripture memorization)
  • Recess
  • Music
  • Annual achievement testing - Stanford 10
  • Hot lunch
  • Nap time
  • Half or full day
Grades 1 -6
  • Curriculum includes: A BEKA, Bob Jones University Press, and Saxon
  • Chapel, daily Bible instruction
  • Special assemblies
  • Music
  • Individual piano lessons during the day (additional cost)
  • Recess and P.E.
  • Weekly computer classes
  • Field Trips
  • Junior Basketball (grades 4-6)

Middle School (Junior High)
As educators and parents, we know that junior high students have distinct developmental needs. The junior high experience is filled with physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual change. Our goal is to provide an environment and instructional program that are both academically rigorous and developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of the adolescent learner. The academic program includes Bible, language arts (grammar, vocabulary, composition and literature), science, math, and history. Students participate in various activities outside the academic area including Spirit Week, Homecoming, and extra-curricular sports.

High School (Grades 9-12)
The Ruskin Christian High School Program serves students in grades nine through twelve. This college preparatory academic program offers many opportunities for the high school student to explore various levels of mathematics, language arts, sciences, social studies, and foreign language. Bible principles are integrated into every facet of the high school program. Our goal is to provide a curriculum and an instructional program that are both academically advanced and integrated with a Christian worldview to meet the needs and character development of the high school student. Opportunities for extra-curricular activities are also available.

  • Foreign Language: Spanish I and II
  • Physical science, biology, chemistry, and Anatomy/Physiology have required lab components
  • Mathematics: Algebra through Pre-Calculus
  • Dual-enrollment opportunities with Hillsborough Community College
  • Boys athletics: soccer, basketball, baseball
  • Girls athletics: volleyball, basketball, cheerleading
  • General or College Prep academic tracts
  • Annual achievement testing - Stanford 10 and OLSAT
  • On-site PLAN and PSAT testing
